MESTEK Infrared Thermometer - Digital Laser Temperature Gun, Non-Contact, -50℃ to 550℃

I had a look around at what was on offer before I bought this, I get fed up buying stuff and they turn out to be crap and then the hassle of returning them... I read the reviews other buyers had left and it was all positive, that and reading up on the item.. I parted cash and bought it. First thing first, well packed and the instructions ( If you read them ) are simple to follow, but to be honest, the Temperature Gun is so easy to work, you'll pick it up almost right away. I do a lot with computers and retro computers, so its handy to know what chips are having issues or just about to, pointing the gun at the chips gives me an idea if they are over heating ( Over worked ) or not. Wish I bought this sooner, it doesn't break the and its a well made and sturdy gun, fits nice in your hand. The screen is bright and colourful , and you can see what the temperature very easily. It also has a room temperature function and humidity scale too ,which is very handy. So well worth the money, easy to use...and very accurate. If you are looking for a Temperature Gun, you wont go wrong with this... if you are not looking for one.. its a handy tool to have around... been checking my fridge and freezer, the fish tank to make sure its at the right temp... Go For it.. you wont regret it.

I had been looking for a thermometer like this for ages so I snapped this one up and I'm glad I did. It's easy to use and you Can set the radiance of infred to what ever substance you want to measure the temp. It's very precise and you have to point it at exactly the spot you want. Its a small and lightweight device and comes with two aaa batteries. So far I have used it to check the temperature and humidity of several different animal enclosures including leopard gecko, tortoise, tarantula, millipede and phasmid to a high degree of accuracy. The accuracy is so good that if I sweep the thermometre from right to left it records the difference in temp and humidity. Its a great device at a great price. I would recommend this. Throw away your analogue Thermometre cos this is the future!

I can't give a rating for accuracy as I have nothing to calibrate it with but it's probably well within range for my needs (pizza oven cooking temperature). It is easy to use as it's obvious what the Laser is being pointed at and the gun is physically small so convenient to store. All good then? Well, not really as the display is so dim it's impossible to read in daylight necessitating being taken into the shadows to be read which is far from convenient. All said and done, however, it works well enough for my needs and it didn't cost much.

I purchased this item so I could check the exhaust temperature outlet pipe for a Chinese desiel heater being fitted into my LandRover. After doing some background research on a social media video site, I was shocked to see the temperature that these little heaters emitted via their exhaust. As I was going to be routing the exhaust exhaust pipe out from the inside of the vehicle via a small cupboard, I wanted to make sure the heat given off wouldn't pose a fire risk with radient heat. The exhaust pipe was lagged with a heat reducing cover to help lower radient heat but I didn't want to take any chances. This infared thermometer was excellent and enabled me to identify hot spots so I could make adjustments to its route and avoid the risk of the surrounding car fixtures ignighting. Even with the exhaust pipe lagging heat sleeve, it still reached temperatures of over 150"c in places. Initially I had just installed the exhaust over a shelf bottom and in error, thought the heat shielding of the pipe would have been safe enough, but after a couple days of use (on low power), I was completely wrong - see attached picture. Fortunately this didn't end in any fire, only cosmetic damage. It could have been so much worse with a full vehicle fire and risks to those in, or around the vehicle, let alone loss of the motor, insurance claims going up etc... Without this item it would have been pure guess work (as I did previously), and with the temperatures involved, there would have been a serious risk of ignition if the exhaust came into direct contact with the combustible parts of the car like plastic trim and carpet. I can highly recommend this product and now feel much safer knowing that I've routed the exhaust pipe safely to avoid any risk of combustion. It's very easy to use, you just point it towards the heat source, pull the trigger and adjust your aim using the bright Lazer. The Lazer has a center larger dot with small circular Lazer spots around it to ensure you have it pointed directly at the heat source. I think this will get much more use later, for one when we go camping and will be using a Chinese desiel heater to heat our tent with the unit outside and hot air piped in. It will be great to check the hot air pipes do not get so hot they risk melting the tent. Value for money is definitely 10/10. Ease of use 10/10 Ergonomics 10/10 Risk Reduction of fire 10/10

When I bought this I thought it was just a gimmick but you really don't realise just how handy this temperature indicator is until you buy one. Check your oven temperature, your engine temperature, your fridge/ freezer temp and loads of other uses. Thoroughly recommended.

I have found that the product is easy to use. The English instructions aspect of the booklet is acceptable as it gets the setup information to the user. Albeit all plastic, the unit feels well made and the digital read out clear. On a negative... the Infrared Thermometer that was posted already had the batteries inside the unit. The power voltage indicator showed it to be low, so I am not sure if the unit has previously been used by some other buyer who has then returned it and it was then sent to me.

Pour mon travail j'ai toujours utilisé les thermomètres infrarouge du fabricant Fluke, reconnus parmi les meilleurs du marché. En plus de la gamme de température, pour avoir mesuré jusqu'aux plus hautes températures, je retiens 2 vrais paramètres importants à prendre en compte pour l'achat d'1 thermomètre infrarouge : le réglage de l'émissivité et la taille du spot (coefficient optique). Cette fois je cherchais 1 thermomètre petit budget et ce MESTEK -50°C ~ 550°C m'a semblé être le meilleur compromis : réglage de l'émissivité rapport de distance (coefficient optique) 12:1 À l'usage mes constats : grâce au faisceau laser le pointage de la cible se fait bien l'appareil est assez réactif pas de beep à chaque prise de température, inutile à mon avis la prise en main est confortable, l'appareil est assez bien équilibré étant donnée la place des piles l'écran est bien lisible et le réglage des 4 paramètres (alarme haute et basse, °C/°F, émissivité) est rapide le manuel est très bien fait, 1 tableau comprenant les valeurs d'émissivité de différents matériaux est fourni comme règle générale, il faut éviter les chocs thermiques du thermomètre, si la température ambiante varie fortement (changement d'environnement de mesure) il faut attendre 30 minutes afin de stabiliser l'appareil, comme bien précisé dans le manuel pour la mesure de température en recoupant avec 1 thermomètre Fluke de ma plaque en terre cuite dans mon four pizza (émissivité réglée à 0.95), j'ai constaté des différences dans l'ordre de 2.5 ~ 3.5°C pour 1 température de la plaque de 435°C, l'appareil est donné avec 1 précision de 1.5% donc 6.5°C sur 435°C, la performance déclarée est donc bien atteinte pour la mesure de l'humidité ambiante en recoupant avec 1 capteur NETATMO, j'ai constaté des différences négligeables, donc très bien aussi pour cette fonction "gadget" Je ne comprends pas les avis négatifs, honnêtement, l'appareil est bien fait, facile à utiliser, la précision donnée est au RDV, le tout pour 1 prix plus que correct, petit plus les piles sont fournis, l'emballage est bien fait aussi, en plus j'aime bien son couleur noir plus sobre que le jaune/rouge, plutôt standards pour ce type d'appareil. À voir sur la durée mais jusqu'à présent ce petit MESTEK mérite 5 étoiles !!!

More money more features. I have a cheaper laser thermometer that has only 2 features: read real time and save highest read temp. This one reads but doesn't save temps but it does read real time, ambient temp and humidity. I find this very neat. Another reason I chose this is because I didn't want to deal with 9volt batteries. This takes AAA's. Edit: I noticed it takes several minutes for the tool to adjust to the current area humidity. As in for example, if I take a reading in a air conditioned room and immediately afterwards take a reading outdoors on muggy hot afternoon the humidity reading would not be accurate. It will take several minutes to maybe like 10 minutes for the humidity reading to adjust. I'm sure the surface temperature reading is accurate without accurate humidity reading. Still a 5 star tool/toy to me. Just my .02.
