Good little thermometer if you understand it's limitations, namely it's inability to read a reflective surface. I have attended a training course for the use of thermal imaging cameras and a key point of the training is understanding a surfaces thermal emissivity, basically an optically reflective surface is very hard to read thermally (through IR) Even a surface like a satin stainless steel (which will not provide a mirror image optically) will provide an almost perfect thermal reflection of the surroundings regardless of its actual surface temperature. This can be very misleading if you are not aware of the phenomenon. For example it is very hard to get an accurate reading with an IR thermometer from a copper pipe, the way around this problem is to apply some black electrical tape to the area you want to read. Or even better use a clamp type thermometer for pipes. Many applications are perfect for this device though and it seems fairly accurate out of the box. As long as your application fits its operating peramiters it's a good thermometer. I hope this helps you decide what you need.

I have been using an oven thermometer for years, a metal one that sits inside the oven, as I do a lot of baking, getting an accurate oven temp is essential. I have been using a glass sugar thermometer for years for baking ( sugar work) I have been using a digital metal probe thermometer for years for sauces and glazes..... I recently needed a thermometer for me, to measure my temperature for some new meds and whilst I was looking at them I came across this one, which is not, I repeat is NOT, for use to measure your body temperature. And I realised I can do everything I do with all those other thermometers, but without the washing up, without getting up close & personal with boiling sugar, and without worrying the thermometer will cause crystallisation, because...you don't touch anything with it! It is marvellous. I compared it's reading with my other thermometers, which as I said I have been using for years and are trusted, and this IR thermometer was only 2 degrees c out compared to them, which luckily is no Biggie at all. It takes 2 batteries which are a complete nightmare to put in. The instructions are utterly pointless as well, it just says put the batteries in, it doesn't show on the lovely diagram where to put them in or even how to get to it So, to put the batteries, that they kindly supply, you have to take off the whole red bit around the trigger.all of it. You have to pull really hard. Once the batteries are in, it is VERY difficult to get this red bit back on Warning: when putting the red bit back, it is really important to point the device at nothing, no people please, because as you struggle to get the red plastic back on , you inevitably mash the trigger, repeatedly, which means the laser is activated, and apparently this is really bad for your eyes, so please be careful where you point it as you fight to get the red back on. From there it's easy peasy. You can chose Centigrade ( Celsius) or Farenhight. Then simply pull the trigger and aim the laser light , which shows up as a red dot, at whatever you want to measure...oven temp, boiling sugar temp, etc etc. I also make plant dyes for clothes & yarn ( wool) , where certain reactions , or adding certain ingredients, happen at a specific temperature, again, just point the laser dot in the middle of your mixture and read the display. Easy. You cannot measure the temperature through things, for example if you point the dot at the side of your saucepan, it will read the temp of the side of your saucepan, not what's inside it. So glad they found this, easy to take measurements, pretty accurate, shame about the terrible instructions and battery compartment of dooom.😉

I got this to use in my leopard gecko and corn snakes vivariums to check their basking spots. Though this doesn’t give you an accurate ambient temperature result (you still need digital thermometers for that) it’s perfect for checking surface temperatures which can be hotter than the air around it and cause injuries to reptiles if it’s too hot. - The gun is simple to use and needs you to do nothing more than point it at the area and press the trigger. - The results seem to be accurate and you get them instantly. - It’s a good size and fits nicely in my hand. - The display isn’t easy to see and the numbers are clear and big Overall I’m really happy with this infrared thermometer, it’s a great price, works well and the batteries seem to last ages. I’d definitely recommend it.

It feels sturdy and good quality and is easy to use. My issue was I’d take same aim at same target and would get different readings each time so I can’t confirm which is correct

I bought this to use with our Pizza oven to make sure the stone was up to temperature before cooking. My son has an Ooni one which cost 3x as much and this performs equally as well. Readings are easy to see with both F and C settings plus a laser to take spot readings if you wish. Only difference is the feel quality and oonie comes in a pouch. Really happy with this and as they say the proof is in the Pizza

Très pratique pour chercher des déperditions de chaleur dans une maison. Utile également en cuisine. Je ne sais pas si la température affichée est hyper juste, mais ça me donne l'impression d'être tout de même assez précis. Et pour le prix, il ne faut vraiment pas s'en priver.

Arrivato in tempo e ben imballato, si presenta molto bene nella sua scatola con le pile in dotazione ovviamente non inserite. L'apparecchio e' semplice da usare comunque ci sono le istruzioni. Ci ho misurato la temperatura di piastre riscaldate e sembra che faccia bene il suo lavoro, l'andamento delle temperature e' coerente con il riscaldamento e non ho notato grosse imprecisioni. Un paio di volte mi ha dato misure palesemente irregolari ma puo' anche darsi che sia stata colpa mia, magari ho puntato male, non so. E' bastato comunque ripetere immediatamente la misurazione che tutto e' tornato a posto. Comodo il puntatore laser. Come anche riportato nelle istruzioni e' importante mantenere la medesima distanza se si vogliono risultati ripetuti precisi perche' avvicinando o allontanandolo si modifica molto la superficie che viene misurata (piu' ci si allontana piu' ovviamente il cerchio si allarga). In sintesi, e' un aggeggio che fa il suo e per un uso hobbistico va piu' che bene. :-)
